The Players’ Lounge is a Web 3.0 platform that facilitates interaction between communities of fans and their favorite student-athletes. The platform launched earlier this year, working primarily with the University of Georgia fanbase. The company will now extend its services to include universities across the country. Two former Georgia football players, Keith Marshall and Aaron Murray will lead the effort as co-CEOs. In their updated roles, the two will focus on adding six new schools and more than 100 new athletes to the platform this summer.
Marshall and Murray are former teammates at Georgia. They worked with other former teammates to utilize Web 3.0 technologies to produce team-specific NFTs, which enable purchasers to gain access to exclusive content and experiences such as special content, members-only message boards, and live events.
Keith Marshall says that he and Murray recognized that as college athletes gained opportunity to monetize their name, image, and likeness, there would be opportunity to change the ways that fans engage with their favorite student-athletes: “As former collegiate athletes, it’s imperative to Aaron and me that our student-athlete partners consider this opportunity an engaging and educational experience, one that enhances their time in college and potentially sets them up for success for life after sport.”
Keith Marshall is a former collegiate and NFL running back, playing for the University of Georgia and the Washington Commanders. He earned his MBA from Emory University Goizueta Business School. He was a member of the Goizueta Consulting Association, Goizueta Impact Investors (MIINT Competitor), the Entrepreneurship & Venture Capital Club, and the Black MBA Association.
Aaron Murray is a former collegiate and NFL quarterback, playing for the University of Georgia and the Kansas City Chiefs. He continues to hold the record for career touchdowns in the SEC. He is currently a college football color commentator and SiriusXM radio host for the CBS Sports Network.
