Illinois sophomore, Edgar Padilla Jr. signed a Name, Image, and Likeness deal with SixStar ProNutrition. The agreement makes Padilla the first Illinois student-athlete to sign an NIL deal. Padilla was a walk-on guard last season. He saw playing time in just six games, with a total of nine minutes. A tweet from SixStar indicates why Padilla was selected for the partnership:
“Edgar’s father (Edgar Sr.) and uncle (Giddel) were part of Massachusetts’ 1996 National Semifinal team that had their appearance vacated because a player accepted money from an agent.”
Padilla’s home town is Carolina, Puerto Rico.
